E-cigarettes superior to nicotine-replacement therapy

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, e-cigarettes are more effective at stopping people from smoking than nicotine-replacement therapy. The hope is that there will be a renewed confidence for vapers in New Zealand, and the uncertainty surrounding e-cigarettes will change to support from the government.

“This research, conducted by leading researchers—including New Zealand’s Dr Hayden McRobbie, showed that one-year quit rates were 18% in the e-cigarette group as compared to 9.9% in the nicotine-replacement group. This adds to existing trial data showing vaping is an effective way to quit smoking,” said QJ Satchell, CEO of NZ Vapour and spokesman for the New Zealand Vaping Alliance. “We hope Health Minister Hon. David Clark and Associate Minister Hon. Jenny Salesa now see a clear path ahead for a smoke-free New Zealand with the help from vaping products like e-cigarettes.”
