In an attempt to make double-dipping socially acceptable, KFC has done the unthinkable.
On direct orders from Colonel Sanders himself, the fast food franchise has introduced New Zealand’s first Gravy Tap to its Sylvia Park, Auckland restaurant.
Customers will be able to pour as much gravy as they like between 11 am and 2 pm and 5 pm and 7 pm from 14 July to 17 July.
In addition to the Gravy Tap, KFC has brought back its fan-favourite Double Down Burger to give customers something to dip into their gravy.
The burger that ditches the buns for two Secret Recipe Fillets, stacked with bacon, cheese, and the Colonel’s Special Sauce, has a cult following in New Zealand, said KFC Marketing Director Leanne Too.
“Every time it’s off the menu, we hear about it,” she explained.
“It’s the product that broke the rules, so this year we wanted its comeback to match that energy – by making it socially acceptable to double dip into gravy.”
The original Double Down will be back with its Supercharged version, which features two Zinger Fillets stacked with bacon, cheese, and KFC’s Supercharged sauce.
For New Zealanders who live too far from Sylvia Park, KFC is serving a side of gravy as an optional add-on at restaurants nationwide until it sells out.
