The Oscars have just ended, and it’s not all about Ryan Gosling’s performance in ‘I’m Just Ken. ‘ The beautiful looks on the red carpet caught some attention, including those of the women of the hour, America Ferrera and Emma Stone, who had their hair styled with ghd!
Here’s the inside scoop on how their stylists achieved these looks.
America’s breathtaking dress had a shine and liquidity, and to counterbalance that, her team went with an effortless, timeless glam that enhanced her natural beauty.
Her look begins with mostly air-dried hair and prep with an anti-frizz spray, followed by the ghd Helios Hairdryer.
“This blow dryer has taken centre stage in my kit because I can customise the power and temperature controls so easily and effectively, and the ionic technology helps with frizz control, which on long award days where I’m not there to do touch-ups is super important to me,” said stylist Aviva Perea.
Once the hair is dry, enhance the natural waves by alternating between the ghd Chronos Styler and the ghd Curve Classic Curl Iron.
“The key to an effortless bend in the hair is to alternate between the two irons. With the ghd Chronos Styler, I zig-zag down one-inch sections of hair, holding the iron horizontally, and with the ghd Curve Classic Curl Iron, I take the same size sections and weave the iron perpendicular to the floor.”
This will create super-soft bends to the hair that won’t look overdone or fussy. You don’t have to worry about selecting a heat setting because the GHD tools are set at 365F degrees, and the heat is always equally distributed throughout the barrel to ensure consistent heat.
Lastly, finish the look with hair oil and texture spray for added shine.
Emma was styled by Mara Roszak. Her effortless waves were inspired by the classic architecture of her Louis Vuitton dress with a modern touch.
First, apply a volumising spray and hair serum, and then dry the hair smoothly using the ghd Helios Hairdryer. Use rollers to help with extra volume.
After taking the rollers out, tease the crown and use the GHD Curve soft curl iron to curl away from the face and the ghd Curve Classic Curl Iron to the nape of the neck.
Finally, softly brush everything out and tuck hair behind the ears. Finish the look with styling oil for added shine.
