Parnell is such a hot spot for offices, good food and, more importantly, convenience for households. With Parnell being so close to the CBD, Heard Park became an essential open-plan space for families to hang out, sit down on the grass and enjoy the nature side of things.
Over the past few years, this beloved park has started to show signs of wear and the lack of activities for families with small children. Luckily, Auckland Council has picked this up, and it’s time to have your say. What kinds of upgrades are you expecting to see for Heard Park?
Will it be a water element play?

How about a play built around level changes?

Or some type of sculptural form?

The current design proposes removing the hedges, creating a more open grassed area with seating along the edges, and planting more trees against the building at the park’s back. And to accommodate current budget restraints, the proposal suggests a phased approach.
The consultation is open from the 7th of June to the 4th of July, so don’t forget to head over to Heard Park concept plan on the Auckland Council website, to have your say.
