Irish rugby star joins dairy campaign

Irish rugby star Rob Kearney is the new face of an EU campaign to promote dairy products. Kearney, who twice starred in Ireland’s historic wins over the All Blacks, grew up on a dairy farm, and said that this formed the basis of his appreciation for dairy foods.

“Growing up on our family farm, milk and dairy was always an important part of our diet,” he said. “I have worked with the National Dairy Council for a number of years, and am a great supporter of milk and dairy as part of a healthy, balanced diet.”

“Eating well is essential, and adapting your nutritional intake to your sport is a necessity. In season or out of season, as well as before, during and after a performance; each of these influences our nutritional considerations.”

“Rob’s career trajectory proves that milk plays a vital role within a sports nutrition regime and we look forward to working alongside him,” said National Dairy Council spokesperson Jeanne Spillane.
