Kirby fans, get ready to hit the track. The pink hero is back for another wild ride when Kirby Air Riders launches on Nintendo Switch 2 this 20 November 2025.
Nintendo has just released its second Kirby Air Riders Direct, with game director Masahiro Sakurai revealing a fresh round of features, modes and surprises.
Road trips, races and pure chaos
The biggest reveal is Road Trip Mode, a story-driven adventure that mixes racing, battles and challenges from across the Kirby universe. Players join Kirby, King Dedede, Bandana Waddle Dee and friends as they travel through bright, fast-paced worlds filled with mystery and mischief.
Fan-favourite Top Ride from the original GameCube release also makes a comeback. This top-down mode lets up to eight players race across wild courses, full of power-ups and unpredictable twists.
Play your way
Kirby Air Riders brings a whole new level of customisation. Players can earn in-game currency called Miles to unlock new machines, headwear and music. Each machine can be decorated with decals and accessories, then displayed in a personal virtual garage for friends to see.
The Paddock area is a social space for online multiplayer, where players can hang out, chat and start races together. A new Swap Relay mode lets you change machines each lap, adding strategy to every race.
amiibo, collectibles and online fun
Three new oversized amiibo sets will launch in 2026, featuring Meta Knight & Shadow Star, King Dedede & Tank Star and Chef Kawasaki & Hop Star. Each lets players mix and match riders and machines in-game.
Online play supports up to 16 players in City Trial, with Team Battles dividing the action into two groups. Players can create a personalised Licence with stickers and effects, then track progress with a new Global Win Power system.
Before the full release, fans can take part in the Global Test Ride, an online demo running from 8 to 10 November and 15 to 17 November. The demo includes Lessons, Air Ride and City Trial modes, along with access to the Paddock lobby for up to 16 players.
