Just days after releasing their debut album Fell Asleep in the Sun, Los Angeles duo After (Justine Dorsey and Graham Epstein) have announced their New Zealand debut.
Released via Mom + Pop Music, Fell Asleep in the Sun is the debut full-length from Los Angeles duo After, blending grungy guitars, trip-hop, drum & bass, shoegaze and sharply written pop.
Across 13 tracks, Justine Dorsey and Graham Epstein draw on the sounds and imagery of the early 2000s, filtering mall soundtracks, internet nostalgia and cultural memory through a distinctly modern lens.
Rather than simply recreating the past, Fell Asleep in the Sun explores how memory shifts, the quiet grief of getting older, and the feeling of watching parts of your life disappear while you’re still living it.
The duo met on Hinge in 2023, quickly discovering that while romance wasn’t on the cards, music was. Since then, they’ve developed a distinctive creative world built around songwriting, immersive imagery and a refusal to sit neatly in one genre.
After’s momentum has continued to build internationally, with their current North American headline tour including sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, Austin and Toronto, alongside arena dates supporting The Neighbourhood. Their music has also featured in Apple advertising campaigns, a Gap campaign, and Zane Lowe’s 26 for ‘26 playlist.
The duo will bring their genre-blurring sound to Auckland’s The Tuning Fork on Friday, the 8th of January 2027.
Tickets go on sale from 10 am NZST Tuesday the 22nd of September via a 24-hour Venue, Moshtix and Artist Presale, with general public tickets available from 12 pm NZST Wednesday, the 23rd of September.
