Episode Thirty-Five: The Reunion Tour

For many, the reunion dinner party is one of the most anticipated events following the months of watching the participants on their tumultuous relationship journey, to gather again and air out their dirty laundry in an evening designed for drama.

This year’s reunion did not disappoint. It’s hard to know where to begin, yet one of the most (and also least) shocking reveals sprouted from Lyndall’s discovery that Cam (the long-haired groom who she dumped at final vows) had been sexting with another girl from the experiment.

For any who had paid attention throughout, there was an obvious answer, Tayla. The Tasmanian native had made it clear from the beginning that she liked Cam. The pair’s interactions at dinner parties and the retreat all came together in an ‘aha’ moment for viewers and Lyndall.

The pair allegedly began messaging each other during the experiment, which Cam profusely denied. Luckily, Tayla was not as interested in keeping her reputation intact as Cam was.

As participants arrived for the dinner party, Lyndall immediately revealed to the other brides and Jesse (previous partner of Claire) what she had discovered. Jesse, who said that he and Claire had been in contact every day since leaving the experiment, had his hopes for a drama-free evening dashed.

Cam arrived, greeting everyone apart from Lyndall. This viewer questioned how much people considered how their actions would reflect on them, which was a sentiment shared by the experts who commented on the maturity of Cam’s actions.

“Maybe he’s saving you for last,” offered Jesse to Lyndall. If only Jesse, if only.

Another impressive entrance was Harrison, as none of the other participants stood up or tried to approach the groom.

Harrison, of course, questioned what was wrong with the ‘vibe’ of the room as he approached the other grooms, to which the grooms responded that it was just when he entered the room.

Ollie and the other grooms approached Cam to ask about the sexting scandal, which he profusely denied in a manner that made it evident that he was lying, stating that although he hadn’t technically done what he did, after the experiment: it wasn’t anyone’s business. And also, his and Lyndall’s relationship wasn’t *actually* a relationship.

In a secure relationship with Layton, Melinda was the first to broach the topic at the dinner table. After all, everyone had seen Cam jump up to greet Tayla when she arrived.

“We heard about the sexts,” probed Melinda.

Cam, immediately on the defensive, shared that after he had returned home, he and Tayla had been sending back and forth ‘banterous’ texts.

“Nothing serious,” replied Cam, “so if you call that sexting, then I’m f- sorry, I’ve sexted.”

Cam’s attempt to deflect did not succeed, with Lyndall revealing that she had seen the groom and Tayla texting throughout the experiment. While Cam denied this, Harrison involved himself, stating that texting didn’t necessarily mean anything as he’d messaged other women in the experiment.

“But do you joke about having threesomes [with Tayla],” quipped Lyndall. Yikes, Cam.

Cam attempted to play off the comment as a joke as Tayla giggled throughout the ordeal before chiming in.

“I mean, I’d be keen,” said Tayla.

Attention was directed to Tayla, who tried to state the situation was funny, and then she was asked what her thoughts were. The bride shared they were only friends, and then…

“I saw his c-” revealed Tayla.

A bit of decorum, babe,

“A bit of decorum, babe,” groaned Claire and every other participant.

“I liked it,” confessed Tayla to the camera later.

Harrison came armed to humiliate Bronte, having printed out messages between the bride and the girl he was accused of having a relationship with on the pair’s wedding day.

“I’m not going to let her get away with it,” shared Harrison, “this is a violation of privacy.”

While Harrison may have been able to dominate and control the dinner parties previously, the groom had lost all the bullying power.

Bronte addressed the group, sharing that she sought the other woman out to know the nature of the relationship before the experiment. As Harrison’s handout was shared across the room, he was met with laughter as all the other participants gathered around to watch the extent Harrison would reach to try and shame Bronte.

“I read the texts,” shrugged Duncan.

All the participants agreed that the texts were okay, with Bronte’s respectful approach to the other woman making Harrison seem more delusional.

“I want to say my piece,” declared Harrison to a room of people who could not care less about what he had to say.

The groom stewed, attempting to control the room, but all anyone did was laugh.

“You’re a loser,” giggled Bronte.

The night’s showdown came between Alyssa and Duncan, as the bride had been waiting for her moment to shine.

“You broke my heart,” shrieked Alyssa after she attempted to goad Duncan and shame him for the message he had sent after they broke up.

For clarity, the message was extraordinarily kind and respectful, stating that he was open to talking to the bride. However, he understood if she did not want to.

“I sacrificed everything for you, time with my son.”

Alyssa stormed off dramatically, only to return.

“I’m not going to let him control the narrative.”

While Duncan perfectly reinstated his feelings when Alyssa accused him of leading her on, he was honest, sharing that he had shared his concerns over their relationship many times and that often Alyssa walked out on him when he tried to communicate with her.

“The last month was not a healthy relationship,” offered the groom.

“Take off the mask, be authentic and genuine,” jabbed Alyssa as Duncan’s emotionally mature and kind responses did not serve her will to be the ultimately wronged one.

The expressions around the table spoke volumes. Alyssa’s attempt to once again paint Duncan in a horrible light did the opposite.
