MISSION ESTATE WINS GOLD

Mission Estate has been awarded the gold medal for their 2017 Estate Rose’ at the New Zealand International Wine Show.

The Gold medal couldn’t have come at a better time with summer just around the corner. The ideal wine for a warm, balmy evening, the strawberry and floral aromas are paired perfectly with a fruit platter shared among friends.

Winemaker at Mission Estate, Alex Roper says, “We’re absolutely thrilled, this is a great result and speaks of the quality of our Rose’ throughout the entire winemaking process.”

Due to the Hawke’s Bay’s superbly warm 2016/17 summer, the red grapes were able to develop ripe and intense flavours and aromas. Specifically targeted for Rose’ production, the fruit for this wine is picked at optimal ripeness from premium Hawke’s Bay vineyards.

“A unique and interesting blend of Malbec, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc went into this wine to give a complex bouquet and attractive pale pink hue,” added Alex

The Rose’ category is becoming increasingly popular, with a 58.9 percent growth in value from the previous year. Mission Estates’ recent win will only help to increase that popularity even further.
