Mopped Up In Old Habits? wet cleaning

Dyson’s first global wet cleaning study investigated wet cleaning habits and behaviours, as well as the frustrations people face with their wet cleaning tools.

The study revealed that while 93 percent of people have hard floors, only 48 percent use wet cleaning machines to clean their homes.

Over half of those who wet clean cite maintaining hygiene and removing dirt and grime as their top motivations. But are they using the most efficient and effective methods to achieve these results?

Old Tools, New Problems: Why mopping can’t keep up with modern homes

Traditional wet floor cleaning tools remain the go-to choice for many households. However, these tools often struggle to deliver a ‘barefoot clean’ finish.

Almost half of the people who wet clean say they need to vacuum, sweep or brush before wet cleaning. This is common with tools like mops and wet cloths, which often struggle to remove larger or solid debris on their own. This can double the cleaning time required, requiring vacuuming and wet cleaning in separate steps.

It’s no surprise, then, that the average home cleaning routine takes a staggering 109 minutes – nearly two hours.

For busy households, this extended time investment highlights the need for a more efficient solution that combines dry and wet cleaning seamlessly.

From Smear to Sparkle: Dyson reinvents the way we clean our floors

Blending its expertise in dust and wet science, the Dyson WashG1 cleans dust and dirt like a vacuum. It is the most hygienic floor washer on the market, with no exhaust emissions and no use of wet filters, which can build up odour and bacteria.

With this advanced cleaning performance, Dyson invites households to experience its benefits firsthand.

This winter, it is putting its innovation to the test through the Dyson Dinner Series, inviting Australians and New Zealanders to host cosy winter dinners with loved ones, and leave the post-party cleanup to the Dyson WashG1.

It’s all about bringing people together, while helping them maintain cleaner, healthier homes with less effort.
