Morningside Tavern Gets Behind The Wahs

Extra beer, staff and burger buns have been ordered for Morningside Tavern in Auckland ahead of this Sunday’s historical night of sport and tense elimination semifinal for the Wahs.

After a last-minute change of venue, the Wahs will host the Knights at a sold-out Eden Park, with a record-breaking attendance expected.

Morningside Tavern, located just 800 metres away from the stadium, has prepared for a packed-out venue of locals who couldn’t get into the stadium for the showdown.

An extra 2,850 litres of beer are on the way, along with an additional 250 burger buns for some hungry footy fans.

Approximately 560 people have booked in so far, with Morningside Tavern taking over the neighbouring Glasshouse Morningside event space to accommodate the overflow.

The usual Sunday staffing numbers have been more than doubled to host what’s set to be the biggest NRL game ever held in New Zealand.

“We’re pulling out all the stops for Sunday night’s crowd. The energy’s really building in town too and our team’s ready for a big night,” Venue Manager Chris Marquet said.

“We’ve made sure we’re fully stocked at the bar and in the kitchen for whatever comes our way that night. “Hopefully we get the win! Up the Wahs!”
