New Roast Potato-inspired Cocktail Released by Auckland-based Bartender

The festive season is looking spud-tastic with the release of the “Tayto-tini”, a roast-potato inspired cocktail created by the Auckland-based bartender, Dave Ryan.

The Tayto-tini pays homage to Ryan’s Irish heritage, featuring Irish Vodka, created by the Irish talk show host, Graham Norton. Norton’s craft-instilled vodka contains one Irish potato per bottle, using produce from a local potato farmer in his hometown, Cork.

Aside from the potato-based vodka, Ryan has added house-made rosemary, thyme and sage cordial, olive lemonade and herb salt, providing customers with the “feeling you get when you’re eating a roast potato.”

He hopes that his cocktail will become a festive favourite amongst Kiwis. Although Ryan has been living in New Zealand for the last 13 years, every Christmas he feels that something is missing from the holiday feasts.

“I realise now that it’s potatoes. I hope this cocktail will help tater lovers like me get into the spirit this year.”

The Tayto-tini is available from 7 December through Black Pineapple, an Auckland-based catering food and drink supplier.

Every limited edition apprentice kit comes with one bottle of Graham Norton’s Irish Potato Vodka, four bottles of Le Tribute Olive Lemonade, one bottle of Roast Potato Cordial, one Herb Salt Shaker, two Spiegelau Coupette glasses, one Step Jigger and 12 parched Herb crusted Potato Slices.

The professional kit options comes with two additional inclusions – a Tin on Tin Boston Shaker and a Hawthorne Strainer.
