Newmarket has set a new standard for the festive season in Auckland, introducing a precinct-wide Christmas experience for Kiwis of all ages.
Unveiling its brand-new Enchanted Christmas walk-through experience, Newmarket has transformed into Auckland’s ultimate destination for the festive season.
With a new 11m walk-through outdoor Christmas tree and six large-scale Nutcracker statues, an enhanced Westfield experience, and an unmatched retail mix, Newmarket is your one-stop shop for Christmas this holiday season.
The Enchanted Christmas experience
Found on Newmarket’s Teed Street, Enchanted Christmas is a fully immersive, two-hour walk-through experience.
First, go on a journey through the enchanted forest, home to Santa and The Grinch. Here, families can get pictures with Santa or The Grinch, included in the ticket price.
The forest features over 200 individually themed Christmas trees, 150,000 twinkling lights and beautifully curated displays. With 100,000 Christmas decorations and a kilometre-long garland path, Enchanted Christmas is a large-scale Christmas wonderland.
As part of the experience, Newmarket’s Enchanted Christmas also includes:
- European Christmas market: A unique chance to experience the magic of a European winter Christmas right here in Auckland. With over 20 stalls offering a wide assortment of unique artisan items, it’s the perfect place for relaxed Christmas shopping.
- Crafting workshops: Enchanted Christmas is hosting a variety of festive workshops to keep the kids entertained. With an additional ticket, you can create Candles and Sleigh Centrepieces, Tree Decoupage, and learn how to decorate your tree from the professionals.
- Pet sessions: For pet lovers, pets can have a chance to get a photo with Santa during designated pet sessions.
- Low-sensory session: To ensure every child is included in the festive celebration, Enchanted Christmas offers a low-sensory session with fewer people, no flashing lights or loud music, and an overall muted atmosphere.
Christmas at Westfield Newmarket
Inside Westfield, Santa is ready to take photos with visitors – friends, family and furry companions in tow. Sensitive Santa will also be available to book before shops open for a calm, comfortable session tailored to people with sensory challenges.
On Friday, the 28th of November, children who use sign language as their primary form of communication can speak to New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Santa, a chance to share their Christmas wish list directly with the big man himself.
Westfield has a free visitor shuttle running every day from Sky City in the CBD to Newmarket. In the week leading up to Christmas, Westfield will stay open until 10 pm to make sure everyone can squeeze in their last-minute Christmas shopping.
