Oscars 2023 Red Carpet Hits and Misses

The 95th Academy Awards are finally upon us, and the stars of the past year of cinema have graced the red carpet. Take a look at our top choices for best dressed, and those who didn’t quite meet the mark.

The Hits

Sofia Carson

This gorgeous dress truly encapsulates the Oscars, whilst showcasing glamour at the same time. The ball gown and matching jewellery were perfectly paired.

Michelle Yeoh

The ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ star graced the red carpet in a flowing gown which was a big step up from her SAG Awards choice of attire. Her earrings beautifully match her hair and makeup as well.

Nicole Kidman

The Australian superstar donned a black sequin gown, adorned with silver roses on her hip and shoulder. The actress, 55, had a minimal hair and makeup look, playing to her natural beauty instead.

Salma Hayek

The Mexican – American actress radiated glamour on the red carpet in her bronze sequined tassel gown. The star of ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ was accompanied by her daughter to the event.

Jamie Lee Curtis.

The star of ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ dazzled in a champagne sequin dress, which was both glamorous and tasteful at the same time. The star, 64, was a first-time nominee.

The Misses

Florence Pugh

The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ star described her outfit as “Romantic and Punk,” but the total ensemble was a miss.

Tems

Looking like she got caught in a tornado on the way in, the architecturally sculpted tulle arrangement looks way too over the top, quite literally.

Elizabeth Banks

We’re not quite sure what is going on with Elizabeth’s dress. Be it the overlapping train, the uneven side ruffle or the off-centred bow on the back, it’s a thumbs down from us.

Laverne Cox.

The ‘Orange is the New Black’ star opted for a turquoise and black dress which gave an unflattering combination. Gloves attached to the dress were also added but didn’t help the look at all.

Zoë Saldana

Wearing something that depicted a nightgown made from an old pair of curtains, this dress can be put into the “doesn’t belong at the Oscars” category.
