POUR ONE OUT FOR BLOCKBUSTER

Remember Blockbuster? It’s a beer now. Hugely unpopular DVD-rental chain Blockbuster has made another grasp at life, proving that what is dead can truly never die.

The Last Blockbuster is a black ale made by 10 Barrel Brewing in collaboration with the Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon – the last remaining Blockbuster in the U.S.

The beer is yet to be released, but apparently has nuances of red liquorice. It’s assumed to be similar to the S1nist0r, a schwarzbier (literally ‘black ale’) the company has brewed before. It’s done in the traditional German style, so fans are guessing the launch party will include a traditional German funeral for Blockbuster.

The brewery will release the beer at Bend’s Blockbuster location on September 21st. The beer will also be available for a limited time at 10 Barrel’s six brewpub locations.

The beer is said to pair perfectly with popcorn and your favourite movie. Pour one out for your childhood.
