Restaurant Opening: Cassia To Launch At SkyCity

After the extreme weather events left the business inoperable, the modern Indian restaurant, Cassia, is packing its bags from Fort Street and moving in permanently to SkyCity.

Cassia is scheduled to open in early May at the site that formerly housed The Grill. In the meantime, owners Sid and Chand Sahrawat and their 20 plus team will continue to run the Cassia Kitchen pop-up offering.

“Sid and Chand changed the face of Indian cuisine in New Zealand with Cassia and we are thrilled to welcome them and their talented team to SkyCity. We know their fresh and interesting take on modern Indian cuisine will continue to delight out customers and all the loyal Cassia followers,” commented SkyCity’s general manager of hospitality, David Allott.

“It’s great to join up with SkyCity. It was really important to us to find a location where we could get up and running again quickly, but where there would be absolutely no change to the Cassia experience. It was also just as important to partner with people who are serious about great food so we can’t wait to share SkyCity Federal Street with some of New Zealand’s best dining outlets,” added Sid Sahrawat.

Excitingly, the re-opening of Cassia at SkyCity marks the first of many changes planned for the precinct. But for now, SkyCity is busy getting the restaurant ready for its early May opening.

Sid and Chand Sahrawat not only run Cassia and Sid at the French Café, but also Kol and Cassia at Home, the couple’s lockdown-inspired curry sauces and spice kits range.
