REVIEW | Every Time She Wakes

I enjoyed Every Time She Wakes by Petronella McGovern, though I should probably admit that time-loop stories aren’t usually my thing. The concept reminded me a little of Groundhog Day, but with a thriller twist. Normally, that would be enough to put me off, but Petronella McGovern keeps the suspense building and gives you plenty of reasons to keep reading.

What worked for me was that the story never felt stuck, even though the timeline kept repeating. New information emerges, the stakes get higher, and the mystery continues to unfold. The pacing is strong, and there is a real sense of urgency as the protagonist tries to change the outcome. I found myself wanting to know what would happen next, which is always a good sign in a suspense novel. While the premise may not appeal to everyone, the author uses it well and keeps the story moving.

If you enjoy suspense and psychological thrillers, this is worth picking up. It would also make a good Christmas or birthday gift for anyone who enjoys a page-turner with a slightly different twist.
