Available only on Netflix, Thunder Force is a totally different take on a superhero movie. You know it will be a lighthearted comedy when one of the superheroes is played by Melissa McCarthy.
The story revolves around two childhood friends, Lydia(Melissa McCarthy) and Emily (Octavia Spencer). The character settings are very cliché, where Lydia is reckless and doesn’t seem to give a damn about what others think, and Emily is the intelligent and upright one. This classic combo is supposed to be hilarious. However, this setting did not spark any chemistry in this film.
The movie depended on a few humorous scenes, and the action scenes are just incomparable with other superhero movies. It is not a bad film if you are looking for something easy to watch or need something to play in the background. Some parts of the movie did manage to make me chuckle, but overall, it is simply just a mediocre superhero movie.
