Summer’s Must Attend Event

Fun, fashion, and first-class racing is set to return to Ellerslie Racecourse on Saturday, January 27th, for the richest sporting event of the year, the TAB Karaka Millions. Free of restrictions and following an impressive $50 million refurbishment, the course will throw open its gates to the public for the first time in almost two years.

Auckland Thoroughbred Racing is expecting over 12,000 spectators to grace the course for the highly anticipated event that will herald Ellerslie’s return to the summer social scene. A ticket to this event is as coveted by the international racing community as it is by Auckland’s social set. It’s fast-paced, glamorous and like no other occasion on the calendar.

As well as the usual thrilling thoroughbred racing, the TAB Karaka Millions has a reputation as one of the best parties of the summer, with Ellerslie’s band kicking off the night before handing over to The Sweet  Mix Kids in ‘the’ place to be seen, The Birdcage.

This year, the horses will compete for an astounding $4.5 million in stakes – that’s over $13,500 per minute of the event, so get your champagne at the ready, there will be millionaires made in front of your eyes. Tickets start from $25pp and can be purchased from the Auckland Thoroughbred Racing website. With two hospitality spaces sold out within days of ticket launch, this really is the must-attend event of summer.
