The Best Met Gala Looks

the best met gala looks

The first Monday of May is upon us, and with it brought the annual Met Gala. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the red carpet (or should we say green carpet) is the pinnacle of fashion.

This year’s exhibition was centred around Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and guests were told to dress according to the theme ‘The Garden Of Time’. Overall, this year was a hit, with most of the guests being on theme. Here are some of our top picks.

  1. Zendaya

We were a bit dubious when Zendaya was one of the first to brace the carpet, but now we know why. Not only did she serve one jaw-dropping look, but two. The first definitely felt nostalgic for Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games, but it was absolutely stunning.

The second is more elegant and classy with a pop of colour, and I think it is safe to say that Zendaya has solidified her position in the Met Gala hall of fame.

2. Cardi B

Cardi B always brings her A game to the Met Gala, and this year is no different. Her big black train stole the show, and she was the ultimate closer to the event. Not only did she look stunning, but she came into the role of her dress, posing for cameras in a cheeky and provocative manner. She also gets bonus points for her dozen security guards who were in perfect sync when moving her gown.

3. Sydney Sweeney

This rom-com superstar proved that she is more than just a blonde bombshell this Met Gala. Although the blue gown is breathtaking, the star of the show is her black wig. When we first saw her on the carpet, we didn’t even recognise her. It takes a beautiful face to be able to pull off light and dark hair, so kudos to her.

4. Tyla

When we saw Tyla on the carpet, we gave out an audible gasp. Not only is she the hottest new thing in Hollywood, but she also has an amazing stylist who needs a pay rise. This gown is made out of sand. That’s right, sand. It is perfectly sculpted to highlight her hourglass figure and even has a little belly button carved in. It is the perfect blend between classy and beautiful.

5. Stray Kids

All eight members of Stray Kids killed it on the red carpet, sporting suits that complimented each other. The reason why this look is so powerful is because of how it works as a collective, with each member pulling off a slightly different variation of the same silhouette. The boys each incorporated white, red, blue and black into there looks, standing in a unique formation and putting on a show.

6. Bad Bunny

Our fashion ick at the Met Gala is men who wear plain black suits. This is why we love Bad Bunny’s suit and hat combo, topped off with an awesome pair of glasses. Would we wear it ourselves? No. Do we love to see a man pushing the boundaries of fashion? Yes! Hats off to you, Bad Bunny.

The 2024 Met was a great success, with celebrities coming together to celebrate the world of art and fashion in one of the most iconic staircases of all time. Although fashion is subjective, there were some clear winners of the theme this year.
