To celebrate 60 years of The Rolling Stones, The Royal Mint launched a new collectable coin, making it the fifth in its ‘Music Legends’ series. The Royal Mint is a British premium maker with a 1,100-year history and works to honour legendary British artists through original designs, focusing on Currency, Consumer, and precious metal investments.

With each coin telling a story, The Royal Mint has depicted music icons such as Queen, Elton John, David Bowie, and The Who. Marking moments that changed the world on coins, The Royal Mint captures coronations, conflicts, commemorations, and celebrations on their designs.

Designed by Hannah Phizacklea, The Rolling Stones collectable coin captures the band in their element, mid-performance, and band name in the classic 1973 font. The coin encompasses The Stones’ instruments, stage presence, heritage, and fashion – celebrating the global impact of their music.

The band said, “We are delighted to be honoured by way of an official UK coin. Even more significant that the release coincides with our 60th anniversary.”

Rebecca Morgan, Director of Collector Services at The Royal Mint, explained that the ‘Music Legend’ series is an exciting new generation of coins for curators and hopes this latest addition encapsulates the band’s incredible achievements.

“We hope this provides a fitting tribute to the band’s sixty years of rock and roll music for their millions of fans across the globe. With a list of hits that includes eight UK number-one singles, thirteen UK number-one albums, and countless hits internationally, The Rolling Stones are UK rock legends. We anticipate this being incredibly sought-after by coin collectors and music lovers alike.”

The coin will be one of the last to be released, bearing the effigy of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and will mark a significant historical moment.

Brought together by The Royal Mint and Bravado, Universal Music Group’s leading merchandise and brand management company, The Rolling Stones coin is available as a limited-edition precious metal.
