Trailer Reaction | Spider-Man: Brand New Day

The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day just dropped, and honestly, I’m not okay. My heart is shattered into a million pieces.

Visually, this movie looks insane in the best way. The suit feels more alive than ever as we can literally see the fabric ripple in the wind, which is such a small detail but makes everything feel so real.

And the moment where we’re pulled inside the mask, looking in on Peter’s eye through the suit? Yeah, that was wild. It’s such a cool, intimate shot that reminds you there’s still just a kid from Queens behind all of this.

The trailer is also packed with nods to iconic comic covers, and they look so clean with the new suit design. It feels fresh and exciting!

Emotionally though? This one hurts. Watching Peter interact with MJ is painful, especially when she calls him a “friendly neighbour.” We know what they’ve been through, and now it’s all just gone for her.

And Peter is still struggling to get his words from the speech out to MJ and Ned? Yeah, that scene is going to ruin me!

But MJ might not be as out of the loop as we think. She has some Spider-Man photos in her apartment, and she is wearing the broken black dahlia necklace, so no way doesn’t mean something. It really feels like she’s going to start piecing things together, just like she said she would.

What makes this story even more intense is that Peter is literally starting from zero. No safety net, no support system. It is just him, his suit, and a full-on identity crisis.

And if you know anything about Spider-Man, you know that kind of mental spiral can mess with his powers, too. The trailer even hints at something going wrong physically, like that moment where his eyes turn black?? Yeah, we need answers!

There is also a voiceover in the trailer about spiders having three life cycles. Between cycles, it can leave the spider vulnerable to threats, and those who make it through experience a sort of rebirth.

It definitely feels like Peter is stuck in that in-between phase, struggling, breaking down, and maybe even mutating before becoming something brand new.

On top of all that, we’ve got some very interesting characters. Of course, Tom Holland returns as Peter, alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned.

Then there’s Mark Ruffalo showing up as Bruce Banner, which means we’re diving deeper into the science behind whatever Peter’s going through. And Jon Bernthal as the Punisher? His dynamic with Spider-Man looked chaotic in the best way.

Also, Sadie Sink’s mystery role?? Jean Grey? And those shots of a red-themed criminal gang? I’m just saying that there’s a chance Daredevil could be lurking somewhere in this story, too.

This trailer gave us hardcore Spider-Man fans action, visuals, heartbreak, and just enough mystery to spiral over until release day.

Spider-Man is back, but this version of Peter Parker might be the most lost we’ve ever seen him. And I am not ready, but sooo ready at the same time.

Spider-Man Brand New Day releases on the 30th of July 2026.
