Mark your calendars. TRON: Ares, the highly anticipated third film in the iconic TRON series, hits New Zealand cinemas on October 9. Today, Disney revealed the official trailer, along with a new poster and first-look images.
There’s more. Grammy-winning rock band Nine Inch Nails is behind the score, and they’ve just released their first new music in five years. The track, As Alive As You Need Me To Be, is featured in the trailer and gives fans a first taste of the upcoming soundtrack. The full album, TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), arrives on September 19 through Interscope Records.
This is the first film score released under the Nine Inch Nails name, but members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are no strangers to Hollywood. Together, they’ve scored more than 20 films and series, picking up two Oscars, three Golden Globes, a Grammy and an Emmy along the way.
The story follows Ares, a highly advanced program sent from the digital world into the real world on a high-stakes mission. It marks humanity’s first contact with artificial intelligence in the TRON universe.
Directed by Joachim Rønning, the film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson and Jeff Bridges.
