The result of a love match between Lightbox and Neon, the biggest, 100% New Zealand owned paid entertainment streaming service will go live next month.
All your favourite shows like The Handmaid’s Tale and Game of Thrones, as well as a wide range of movies will be brought together all in one place for you to enjoy, uninterrupted.
There are some awesome highlights coming up in July, perfect for when you’re staying in on a cold winter’s night, these include a couple of Neon exclusives: Zoe Kravitz-led High Fidelity and Dollface starring Kat Dennings.
Inspired by Nick Hornby’s novel and the Touchstone film of the same name, the series reimagines the story from the female perspective. Zoë Kravitz plays the ultimate music fan – a record store owner who’s obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists. A female take on the character played in the movie by Cusack, Kravitz speaks straight to the camera as she chronicles past relationships.
Starring: Zoë Kravitz (Big Little Lies), Jake Lacy (Fosse/Verdon), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Dolemite Is My Name) and David H. Holmes (Mindhunter).
Kat Dennings stars as a young woman who, after being dumped by her long-time boyfriend, must deal with her own imagination when she literally and metaphorically re-enters the world of women, in order to rekindle the female friendships she left behind.
Starring: Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls, Thor), Brenda Song (The Social Network), Shay Mitchell (You, Pretty Little Liars), and Esther Povitsky (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).
If you’re in the mood for something a little grittier, also new to Neon:
Gangs of London
For 20 years, Finn Wallace was the most powerful criminal in London. Billions of pounds flowed through his organisation each year. But now he’s dead – and nobody knows who ordered the hit. With rivals everywhere, it’s up to the impulsive Sean Wallace, with the help of the Dumani family, headed by Ed Dumani, to take his father’s place.
Starring: Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Sope Dirisu (The Casual Vacancy), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones), Lucian Msamati (His Dark Materials), Colm Meaney (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Mark Lewis Jones (Chernobyl), Valene Kane (Queen of the South), and Eri Shuka (Hyena).
Another devious drama set in London; it’s 2011, Massimo Ruggero, a charismatic and fearless Italian banker, has enjoyed a stellar winning streak on the London trading floor of investment powerhouse, NYL Bank. Massimo’s successes have seen him make hundreds of millions of dollars for his employers; and with it, all but certain promotion to vice-CEO. However, a scandal involving his drug addicted wife puts a brake on Massimo’s ambitions, leading his American CEO, Dominic Morgan, to withdraw his support, as Massimo’s fiercest rival, Edward Stuart, seemingly waits in the wings.
Starring: Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) and Alessandro Borghi (Suburra)
