The AA has created a list of 101 Kiwi summer Must-Dos so we can make the most of the warm weather. AA Travel and Tourism General Manager Greig Leighton said the specially curated list was designed to inspire New Zealanders to make the most of their own backyard instead of spending long weekends overseas.

“I think people will be thrilled to read the list and see a blend of old favourites where perhaps they haven’t gone for a long time and there are now new things to do in those areas, as well as hidden gems that until now, only locals have known about but are well worth making the trip for,” said Leighton.

Warm weather in New Zealand lasts a long time, with dry spells well into March. To encourage Kiwis to get out and turns must-dos into dones, AA Traveller is giving away prizes to help people achieve their summer goals.

From the 21st December, the company will be giving out holiday packages, Must-Do experience tickets, event tickets, and free tanks of fuel so Kiwis can get to those 101 destinations. One lucky person will also win a brand new Suzuki Vitara.

To be in to win, you just need to upload a photo of one of the Must-Dos to Facebook, Instagram, or the competition website with the hashtag #MustDoe.

The full list of official Must-Dos can be seen at 101mustdos.co.nz, and includes gems like Coromandel’s Cathedral Cove and stargazing at the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.
