Backroads has debuted in Egypt with a new Multi-Adventure Tour launching in 2027.
Designed as an active way to experience one of the world’s most storied destinations, the itinerary combines hiking, biking, and kayaking with luxury hotel stays and a multi-day cruise along the Nile River.
Travelling from Cairo to Luxor and Aswan, guests can experience Egypt’s ancient wonders from multiple perspectives, visiting iconic sites while moving through the landscapes that connect them.
Highlights include visiting the Pyramids of Giza, biking near royal tombs and through the desert landscapes of Luxor’s West Bank, flying to Abu Simbel to experience the grandeur of the monumental Ramses II temples, kayaking the palm-lined Nile while passing ancient temples and riverside villages, and walking in the steps of pharaohs along Luxor’s sacred Avenue of Sphinxes.
Along the way, a local Egyptologist will bring Egypt’s past to life, while meaningful encounters with communities offer insight into the country’s vibrant living culture.
A defining feature of the trip is its combination of luxury stays with a multi-day cruise aboard the Sanctuary Serai. This newly built riverboat debuted in 2026 and is the only all-suite vessel on the Nile.
Hotel stays include Mandarin Oriental’s Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan and the Al Moudira Hotel in Luxor, a Relais & Châteaux property.
