ACNH: Bug Off!

I’m sure you are well aware of the bug lover: Flick, one of the NPCs that appear on your island, and after C.J.’s Fishing Tourneys, Flick will be hosting his own event “Bug Off!”, currently running in the Northern Hemisphere! The players who chose the Southern Hemisphere will, unfortunately, need to hold on to their nets a while longer!

How does it work you ask? It’s pretty much the same as CJ’s Fishing Tourneys. Flick will be waiting in the main plaza between 9 am to 6 pm. The first round of Bug Off will be free and then 500 bells each time afterwards. The event gives you 3 minutes to catch as many bugs as possible! The calculation is fairly easy to understand, each bug is worth one point and 2 extra points on every third bug that is caught. With every 10 points, you can redeem a random reward from Flick.

Event Schedule

Northern Hemisphere:

  • 27th June 2020
  • 25th July 2020
  • 29th August 2020
  • 26th September 2020

Southern Hemisphere:

  • 21st November 2020
  • 19th December 2020
  • 23rd January 2021
  • 20th February 2021

Just like CJ’s Fishing Tourneys, the points you accumulate each day will unlock trophies. Just remember, points do not carry over so make sure you earn as many points as you can for those shinning trophies!

  • 100 points = Bronze Trophy
  • 200 points = Silver Trophy
  • 300 points = Gold Trophy

Here is also a list of rewards you can exchange with Flick on every 10 points you earn:

  • Artisanal Bug Cage
  • Butterfly Backpack
  • Bug Aloha Shirt
  • Bug Cage
  • Bug Wand
  • Butterfly Wall
  • Ladybug Rug
  • Ladybug Umbrella
  • Spider Doorplate
  • Termite Mound
  • Toy Centipede
  • Toy Cockroach

Some tips from us…

To get the most out of the three minutes, we would suggest before entering, fill your tool shortcut with nets plus additional nets near the plaza. Next, set up your insect catching area near the plaza, placing items that will attract the insects, such as, different flowers, stumps, rotten turnips or garbage for a higher chance of bugs in such a short amount of time.

What about K.K. Slider?

As the event is happening on Saturdays, K.K. Slider will be visiting on a Friday instead, a day before the tournament, so not to worry, you can still get a concert and music from the singing pup!
