At The Beach – 100 Years of Summer Fashion in New Zealand.

What better way to celebrate the beginning of summer than to check out 100 Years of Summer Fashion??

‘At the Beach’ is a display of beautiful summer garments from the early 1900s to today. From woollen bathers to parasols to Hawaiian shirts, they’ve got it all. Highlighting key milestones in New Zealand’s history of fashion.

I love huge amount of gear they managed to curate together, especially the heavy woollen bathers of the Edwardian era. It not only shows what we wore over large period of time, but it also reveals moments of our ever-changing society and our love for the sea. What’s even better is that they are only exhibiting garments made or designed in New Zealand.

The show is in the Edmiston Gallery at the New Zealand Maritime Museum, open 9am-5pm.
