CLOT & Dr. Martens Team Up for a Cultural Remix of the 1461

CLOT has teamed up with illustrious British-footwear brand Dr. Martens, which has long since been heavily established through generations of subcultures and creatives, having transcended from a simple work shoe to a quintessential icon.

The release features a re-envisioned version of one of Dr. Martens’ beloved footwear styles, the 1461 – the six-decade-old shoe is the second original style ever produced by the brand and has been a hallmark of individualism since its conception in 1961. This collaboration cements both brands’ heritage status in the creative industry, putting together CLOT’s signature red hue and traditional Chinese influence with Dr. Martens’ classic aesthetic and era-defining 1461 silhouette.

Redesigned with CLOT’s cultural sensibilities, the shoe plays on the ambiguous nature and symbolism of the colour red. In Chinese culture, the colour could be interpreted as representing luck, youth or fortune – whilst in the eyes of Dr. Martens, it is representative of the expressive and authentic spirit of the youth. Both brands stay true to their timeless roots – seeking to grow creative culture in the East and in the West.

The release will be available starting May 29th at LOADED in Auckland, New Zealand.
