Dolly Decides to Rock On

The Queen of country music has done it again, giving fans the gift they didn’t even know that they wanted.

Dolly Parton has long been the singer and songwriter of some of the most recognisable and iconic music there is. With songs such as “I Will Always Love You” and “9 to 5,” Parton (who has already mastered the country/pop cross-over) has now entered into the world of rock.

‘Rockstar’ is the 52nd studio album released by Parton, and is a thirty-track compilation of both original and covered songs. Some favourites that fans can expect to hear are versions of “Stairway to Heaven” and “Great Balls of Fire.” What is more impressive is the lineup of artists performing on the album as featured, with the likes of P!NK, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Debby Harry, and Sting among many more. Mick Jagger is also rumoured to be a guest artist for a cover of “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.”

“I’m doin’ my best to try to get (Jagger) on, but I did his song anyway. I think P!NK and Brandi Carlile will be singing on that particular song with me,” Parton hinted on the talk show, The View.

Parton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, where she hinted at potentially producing a rock album during her acceptance speech.

“If I’m going to go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I’m going to have to earn it,” said Parton.

‘Rockstar’ is scheduled for release on November 17th, with singles planned to be released in the lead-up. The first of which will be released on May 12th New Zealand time.
