Look to the western skies, because the land of Oz is once again alive in the powerful teaser images released promoting the upcoming “Wicked” Movie.
The Movie adaptation of the much-loved musical of the same name is known around the world for being the untold story of the “Wizard of Oz,” and stars the talents of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Grande plays the part of Glinda, the Good Witch, and has been seen sporting a classic soft pink gown and blonde hair.
Erivo is set to play the role of Elphaba, known in the 1939 musical as the Wicked Witch of the West.
The upcoming movie was filmed on location in Buckinghamshire, England, and by the looks of things, the yellow brick road has already been laid.
From director, Jon M. Chu, “Wicked” will be set in two films, with the first due to be released in late November, 2024. The film also stars Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) as the Wizard, Jonathan Bailey (Brigerton) as Fiyero, and Academy-Award winner Michelle Yeoh (Everything, Everywhere All at Once) as Madame Morrible.
The storyline, as far as we know, won’t stray too far from the original. As for music, you can safely assume that the ballads of “Defying Gravity” and “The Wizard and I” will most likely feature.
