It’s almost the best day of the year: free ice cream day! Ben & Jerry’s annual Free Cone Day celebration has returned, and this time, they are trying to break records.
While any day involving free ice cream is a win, the Ben & Jerry’s team invites fans to help serve one million scoops worldwide. After running for four decades, the goal is to make this year the largest yet.
In 2023, the brand gave away 180,000 free scoops in Australia and New Zealand after a four-year hiatus.
“It was nothing short of amazing to see our fans back in our shops in their full Free Cone Day glory,” said Ben & Jerry’s CEO Dave Stever.
“We gave out over 970,000 scoops across the globe, but we know together with our fans, we can break one million scoops. We’re asking our fans to really bring it this year: invite their friends, family, and neighbours, and help us beat our goal of one million scoops on Free Cone Day 2024.”
The beloved tradition began in 1979 after cofounders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield survived its first winter as a two-man business in Vermont. The first Free Cone Day was used to give back to the community and thank fans for their support.
It’s heartwarming to see that Ben & Jerry have kept this going, showing how you can succeed while remaining true to your roots.
Plus, who doesn’t like free things?
The deal is available at every Ben & Jerry’s store worldwide on 16 April. It’s bound to be busy, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
