GET JAZZY ON IT

Waiheke Island will come to life over Easter weekend in a flurry of rhythm and blues as the Waiheke International Jazz Festival kicks off once again. For over 20 years, the Festival has attracted 5,000 people across the Hauraki Gulf for a weekend of good tunes and good times.

This year the line up features international stars such as the Stefan Nagler Trio (Germany), George Washingmachine (Aus) and the most accomplished from across the ditch, Nichaud Fitzgibbon. Local talent includes Sal Valentine and the Babyshakes, Hopetoun Brown and perennial favourite Dave Dobbyn.

“From midday to midnight the island will be abuzz with internationally-acclaimed musicians for this feast of music over the Easter long weekend,” says Festival Director John Quigley. “Come for the day or make a ‘Waihekend’ out of it.”

The festival will get groovin’ at 12 noon on Good Friday at the picturesque Rangihoua Estate in Rocky Bay, before branching off into specialty events at more intimate venues across the island.
