MORTAL ENGINES TO NEW ZEALAND

Sir Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh are to produce an adaptation of Philip Reeve’s award-winning sci-fi fantasy novel, “Mortal Engines.” A talented ensemble of New Zealand actors has been cast in the film, including Mark Hadlow, Nathaniel Lees, Caren Pistorius, Joel Tobeck and others. Nathaniel Lees has previously featured in “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers as well as “The Matrix.” Stephen Lang, Robert Sheehan and Hera Hilmar were also previously announced. Sir Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh co-wrote the screenplay with long-time collaborator Philippa Boyens and Christian Rivers, who has spent much of his 25-year career working with Jackson, will direct. Jackson and Walsh have been involved in with the project for several years, having optioned the rights from Scholastic. The film is slated to start filming in New Zealand in Spring 2017, and the film is set to be released December 14th, 2018.
