Perhaps calling him Marky Mark is showing my age, but the Hollywood heavyweight, better known as Mark Wahlberg, is bringing his family’s burger chain to New Zealand (sans the Funky Bunch).
The actor, producer, and businessman has signed a deal, reported to be worth AU$50 million (NZ$53.5 million) to open 20 Wahlburgers restaurants across Australia and New Zealand over the next five years.
The deal is a partnership with the Mustaca family, owners of Australia’s largest independent cinema chain, United Cinemas, and reportedly includes five restaurants in New Zealand.
The first franchise is expected to open in Sydney’s CBD later this year. Details of New Zealand locations and potential opening dates are yet to be released.
