Late Checkout For Spring Summer

Late Checkout For Spring Summer

STORM Founder and Creative Director Deborah Caldwell is no stranger to watching and interpreting trends.

When asked what we can expect to be wearing for the warmer months ahead, Caldwell explained that there would be a lot of extensions on current trends, but all slightly with a twist.

“The love of neutral tones is going nowhere, but we’ll see them contrasted with spring and summer brights – think cobalt blue and citrus orange,” said Caldwell.

“For those who love to make a bold statement, we’ve also seen colour on colour making its way down the runways, think bright spring greens paired with uplifting azure blues, reminding us not to forget to have a little fun in life”.

Caldwell was excited to release her first taste of the spring and summer looks ahead with her new ‘Late Checkout’ Collection launching this month. Shot behind closed doors, this collection is all about quiet confidence.

Tailored silhouettes meet slouchy denim, luxe knits soften sharp lines, and bold pops of colour break through a neutral base. Statement prints steal the spotlight, from bold animal print to retro 70s-inspired designs. With elevated essentials and unexpected pairings throughout, each look is designed to feel strong and effortlessly modern.

Caldwell said that denim has never been more versatile and prominent in both everyday wear and evening wear as people continue to dress it up and wear it to everything.

Wide and barrel leg jeans continue to dominate, but slim silhouettes have also made a comeback, which Caldwell said lovers of a good skinny or stovepipe jean will be more than happy about for the warmer months ahead.

Expect to see plenty of summer whites and hints of chocolate as STORM’s obsession with all shades of brown isn’t going anywhere. Think warm bases of cocoa this season.

In terms of texture and embellishments, lace, metallics, satin, mesh, beading, and animal print have featured heavily in the northern hemisphere summer, and expect to see these adorning cardis, tees, dresses, and accessories.

“I’ll be rocking a signature band tee, some barrels or skinnies and a boxy blazer most days, as well as a flowing dress that can be worn casually, belted and edged up with some statement hardware, a leather jacket or an oversized blazer,” added Caldwell.

“Overall, expect to see more colour than usual this summer. At STORM, we had a successful winter by experimenting with a little more colour, and our customers have responded super positively to brighter wardrobe options. I’ve enjoyed having fun with our interpretation of northern trends, still styled in our usual rock ‘ n ‘ roll way.”

Late Checkout will be available in stores and online in two drops, the first in mid-August and the second in early September. STORM has eight stores nationwide and is also stocked in selected retail partners.
