Ponsonby Popup ‘This is nice’ is Back!

'this is nice' popup store

A collaborative pop-up concept store and local brand collective has returned to the heart of Ponsonby for two weeks, from March 21 to April 3, 2022. Back for the second time, ‘This is nice’ is brought to you by local fashion brands, Alyssa Lloyd and Velvet Heartbeat.

The concept store will showcase a diverse mix of high-end Kiwi-made products from the local women-led creative businesses, ranging from clothing, ceramics, and wall-art, to accessories, perfume and jewellery. All brands have been handpicked based on their shared values of sustainability, conscious design, exacting quality, and female empowerment.

“‘This is nice’ is an opportunity for us to introduce customers to some amazing values-driven brands, who are not only ‘doing nice’ in the world of business, but also happen to offer and make really lovely things we think anyone would be happy to have in their home,” said Suzie Eggleton of Velvet Heartbeat.

Among some of the brands involved in the concept store, Eden Essence creates all-natural perfume designed to enrich the soul, Unde – a Maori led business from Wellington – employs Kiwi women to make eco-friendly organic cotton underwear, and Dorothy Knitwear, a mother-daughter duo, creates unique and one of a kind knitwear. Their products will display alongside NZ-made sustainable fashion from Alyssa Lloyd design and plant-based leather accessories from Velvet Heartbeat, who are hosting the store.

“It has been a really challenging last six months for many local businesses, and we know these struggles aren’t over just yet”, said Chloe Win, a fashion designer from Alyssa Lloyd. “But we’re really excited about the prospect of getting a select group of hard-working brands together for a celebration of our creations.”

The pop-up shop will be supported by an online store shipping nationwide and offer free click-and-collect for Auckland-based customers.
