Get naked with Lush! Swap your empty cosmetics packaging for free shampoo bars.
Lush Cosmetics is inviting Kiwis to embrace a plastic-free lifestyle by swapping their empty cosmetics packaging for a Naked alternative. In line with Lush’s mission to make the world a greener place, this initiative offers Kiwis a chance to reduce their plastic usage. With the average Kiwi household using around 941 plastic bottles annually, this campaign aims to make a significant impact.

For two days only, on Friday 9th August and Saturday 10th August, Aucklanders can bring their empty cosmetics packaging to the pop-up Lush Shower at Westfield Albany. In return, Lush will swap it for one of their iconic plastic-free Shampoo Bars. If you’re outside Auckland, don’t worry – you can still trade your plastic packaging for money back towards a Shampoo Bar at any Lush store nationwide.
Lush Shampoo Bars are fantastic for hair and the planet. Each bar lasts up to 60 washes, which is longer than many relationships! Since inventing the shampoo bar in 1987, Lush has inspired numerous companies and has helped keep at least 1,000 tonnes of plastic out of the environment each year.
Just one shampoo bar can replace up to three 200 ml bottles of liquid shampoo. Plus, they are lighter and more compact, meaning one truck of shampoo bars equals the number of washes in 15 trucks of liquid shampoo bottles. Since 2005, Lush has sold 59 million shampoo bars, potentially saving the planet from 180 million plastic bottles, equivalent to about 5% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
As part of Lush’s year-round closed-loop packaging initiative, all empty cosmetics packaging collected at the Lush Shower will be recycled through the ‘Bring it Back’ scheme. By participating in this swap, Kiwis can enjoy free Lush products while contributing to the fight against plastic waste.

Join Lush and get naked at the pop-up Lush Shower outside Lush Cosmetics in Westfield Albany on Friday 9th August from 3:30pm to 8:00pm and Saturday 10th August from 10:30am to 5:00pm.
