What do you think of when you hear the word spring?
At Our Land is Alive in Cordis Auckland, the words refreshing, floral, quenching and bright come to mind. Using this, the team at the bar have created four new cocktails to add to the already eye-catching line-up on offer. Even better, all the food and beverage at this bar is local, supporting the distillers and the high-quality wine and beer offering New Zealand has.
Because the bar is all local, right down to the benchtops, the garnishes and the design elements, the team have thought outside the box on spirits that aren’t locally available, such as Campari and Tequila, spirits that go hand in hand with popular cocktail recipes.
“This spring season, we have brought out our very own take on the margarita. Since we don’t have tequila readily available to us and we won’t compromise on the all local offering, we got creative,” said Cordis Auckland’s Director of Food & Beverage, Lucas Gougeon.
The team used Black Collar Vodka in this margarita and then added the delicious Terps & Co tequila-style non-alcoholic offering, giving it that taste we all know (and some love). Finally, it is finished off with lime, triple sec liqueur and agave syrup.
“Being able to get creative this way is pretty cool and gives us a different offering to your average bar. We love sharing these stories with our guests, so pop on down and join us for a drink. We are based in Cordis Auckland. However, you don’t need to be staying in-house to visit us; head on over after work for a drink with your team or a weekend drink and bite to eat in the sun,” said Gougeon.
Additional to the new Our Land Margarita, which is $20 per cocktail, the bar has three other new cocktails to try – the Berry Blaster, Jungle Julep and Pineapple Express.
The Berry Blaster is a quenching mix of Black Collar Vodka, berries, lime and sugar ($18), the Jungle Julep is a refreshing mix of brandy, mint and sugar ($25) and the Pineapple Express is a sweet mix of Black Collar Spiced Rum, mint, pineapple juice, lime and grenadine ($18).
