REVIEW | A Quiet Place Part II (Spoiler-free)

After experiencing the original film in 2018, I left the cinema excited and hungry for more. A Quiet Place Part II was intended for release mid-2020, however the world had other ideas with a global pandemic forcing everyone home. Luckily in New Zealand, we have the ability to return to the big screen and experience this powerful continuation of John Krasinski’s original film. And let me tell you right now, it is well worth the wait.

When reviewing films, I always ask myself at the end – would I watch this again? I could and would watch this series over and over. It cleverly plays with sound to build scenes all while keeping you on the edge of your seat just to hear a pin drop. The story retains all the original staples of the first film and builds on its characters.

Without sharing any spoilers, the film starts as a prequel to the first movie. Establishing the first day of the horrific events, as you watch them unfold you see motifs from the first film. Cutting to current day for the characters, the movie is simply split into a prequel and sequel. A delicious and satisfying movie to watch, especially with a friend.

If you liked the first film, you will love this one for being more of the same in the best way possible.
