Bring Your Dog To Work

Bring Your Dog To Work

Going to work just got a whole lot cuter with new bring your dog to work policies.

With the rise of dog ownership after the COVID-19 pandemic, workplaces are trying to adapt by letting employees bring in their fur babies.

Brands like Uber, Google and Ben & Jerry’s were among the first to make offices dog-friendly, gaining the interest of animal lovers worldwide.

This comes after the growth of pets during pandemic lockdowns, causing humans and their adopted pets to become attached at the hip.

Bringing your pet to work is appealing because it can save on pet-sitting costs and prevent dogs from sitting at home alone all day.

Having dogs in the office has several benefits, such as reduced stress levels, a fun topic of conversation for colleagues, and a more social work environment.

However, dogs are not for everybody!

Workplaces must be mindful that some people prefer a traditional office environment. There are also a large number of people who are allergic, so even if they don’t mind their presence, it could trigger a week-long sneeze attack.

Small businesses are more likely to include dogs in the workplace due to being more nimble with a less formal structure. That being said, if a company decides to include dogs, they must ensure that pets are vaccinated and properly toilet trained.

In some European countries, companies hire a dog trainer to assess pets to ensure they meet the proper protocol.

So, although bringing your dog to work might seem good on paper, do the office some justice and ensure it is trained and friendly.
