REVIEW | Champions

Champions may not have been the side-splitting comedy it looked like it would be, but it certainly delivered a feel-good experience.

Directed by Bobby Farrelly, who brought us “Dumb and Dumberer”, “Something about Mary”, and “The Ringer” with Johnny Knoxville, this movie didn’t quite match up in the humour department, earning a 3 out of 5 rating for comedy. However, it hit the mark regarding uplifting emotions, making a solid 4 out of 5 rating for the feel-good factor. The movie felt like a cross between “Mighty Ducks” and “The Ringer”, creating an exciting and unique blend.

The quirks of all of the characters are relatable, whether it be the animal-loving Johnny (Kevin Iannucci) or the fierce and feisty Cosentino (Madison Tevlin), or “old man” Marcus ( Woody Harrelson), who is quickly humbled when he gets to know the team “friends.” We are all champions in our way.

Overall, “Champions” is worth watching for anyone needing a pick-me-up with a side of chuckles.
