REVIEW | Fast & Furious 9 is the Most Ridiculous One Yet!

Having watched the whole Fast & Furious series, I was always hyped and amazed by all the fancy high-end cars, spectacular stunts and things blowing up. For those who have seen all the films, would you agree that the stunts are still impressive in the recent films, but it’s starting to get just way too unrealistic?

I’m going to say this now – it would’ve been a more memorable ending if the series just stopped after Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (R.I.P Paul Walker), went their separate ways at the end of Fast & Furious 7, am I wrong?

Nevertheless, when the ninth instalment came out a few days ago, I thought to myself, “this is it, time to get some closure,” and boy was I wrong.

As expected, there’s not much to say about the plot, it is an action movie after all right? But the rundown is this: the crew goes on a mission to retrieve an item that will end the world if it falls into the wrong hands. Sounds about right.

The action scenes were full-on the moment the cinema lights dimmed and the opening scene began. In fact, I was so surprised by its ‘full-on-ness’ that I had to check if I walked into the wrong cinema and was actually watching a Bollywood movie instead. I mean, how on earth did these actors tumble down a cliff in a car whilst escaping an explosion to come out at the other end without a scratch? Not even a dirt mark? You’re confused, so am I.

The film brought back some past characters and special guests which was exciting, and no matter how ridiculous the action scenes were, I was still glad the movie ended with a happy ending. I finally got my closure after ten years. Until I sat through the credits, and a post-credit scene pops up…

Yes, I have mixed feelings about Fast & Furious 9. Would I watch Fast & Furious 10 when it comes out? Probably, but please let it be the last one!
