As predicted by the 1989 film Back To The Future II, a pair of self-lacing Nike Air Mag sneakers are now in existence. The first pair was delivered to Michael J. Fox who played Marty McFly in the film, with proceeds being given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
“We started creating something for fiction and we turned it into fact, inventing a new technology that will benefit all athletes. By imagining the future, we create it. Product that comes alive, with on-demand comfort and support when you need, product that senses you and adapts to you is right around the corner,” said Mark Parker, CEO, Nike.
Fox received the shoes alongside a handwritten note from Nike’s top designer Tinker Hatfield with an illustration of Fox putting the shoes on.
The Nike Air Mag 2015 is set to go on sale next year with a limited run.
