Hair is as much a part of dressing as the clothes themselves. It sets the tone, brings the attitude, and carries the energy. – Karen Walker

GET LOOK ONE: Voluminous texture with soft front buns

Step 1: Add volume and texture
  • Start with damp hair
  • Apply a volumising mousse or spray generously throughout the hair, working it in with your hands to create lift and body.
Step 2: Diffuse the product into your hair
  • Using the Shark FlexStyle Curl-Defining Diffuser attachment, thoroughly dry your hair
  • As you dry, scrunch hair with your hands to enhance texture and encourage natural movement.
Step 3: Brush through
  • Once hair is completely dry, gently brush through with a cushion brush to soften and shape the texture you’ve created with the diffuser.
Step 4: Section and ponytail
  • Create a strong, central parting
  • Take the hair that would naturally fall in front of your ears on both sides and pull it into two high ponytails that sit just back from the front hairline, in line with the mid to outer end of your eyebrow.
Step 5: Twist into a bun
  • Twist one ponytail around itself, letting the hair natural coil into a soft bun shape
  • Secure the bun with bobby pins in your hair colour for a seamless finish.
  • Repeat on the other side.
Step 6: Final texture and finishing touches
  • For added texture, gently rough up the bun with your fingertips
  • Let the hair behind your ears fall naturally, showcasing the soft texture created earlier with the diffuser.

GET LOOK TWO: Textured double knot ponytails

Step 1: Prep with texture
  • Begin with dry hair and apply volumising product as instructed in look one.
  • Using the Shark FlexStyle with Paddle Brush attachment, blow-dry the product into your hair. This will smooth and straighten the hair while keeping volume minimal at the roots.
Step 2: Create a low side part
  • Take a low side part by running your finger up into your hairline directly above the outer end of your eyebrow and parting from there.
  • To enhance sleekness at the roots, switch to the Flexstyle’s FrizzFix Finishing attachment and run it gently over the parted section of your hair.
Step 3: Form two low ponytails
  • Comb the hair back smoothly on each side into two low, offset ponytails (just below of the occipital bone but not directly center).
  • Secure each with a clear plastic hair tie
Step 4: Create the folded knots
  • For each ponytail, gently pull the hair through the elastic again as if making a bun – but stop halfway, forming a loop or ‘knot’ with the ends left out.
  • This creates a soft folded knot with visible tails for texture.
Step 5: Wrap and secure
  • Take one of the longer ends left out and wrap it around the base of the knot
  • Secure it with one or two bobby pins in a contrasting colour to your hair for a creative, editorial touch.
