Subway & Four’N Twenty Launch Meatball Pie

At smoko, big questions matter. Like what happens when New Zealand’s love of pies meets Subway New Zealand’s legendary subs?

‘Meat’ the answer: the Subway x Four’N Twenty Meatball Pie.

In a cheeky nod to New Zealand’s unwavering love affair with a good pie (especially at smoko), iconic national pie brand Four’N Twenty has teamed up with Subway to create a limited‑time drop that takes a Subway fan‑favourite, Meatball Marinara, and wraps it in flaky golden pastry.

The result? A hearty, one-handed masterpiece.

The Subway x Four’N Twenty Meatball Pie brings together tender meatballs and rich marinara sauce, baked into a hearty Four’N Twenty pie, designed for easy eating, whether you’re on the tools, on the go, or just seriously hungry.

Imagine all the saucy goodness of a Meatball Marinara sub wrapped in crisp Four’N Twenty pastry, a proper, smoko‑approved pie built for grabbing, cracking open, and getting stuck into.
Available exclusively at participating Subway restaurants for one day only on April 1 2026, the Meatball Pie is set to become the ultimate smoko conversation starter.
Chief Marketing and Growth Officer at Patties Food Group, Anand Surujpal, said pies and smoko go hand-in-hand.

“Pies are serious business in New Zealand, especially at smoko. When Subway, came to us with the idea of turning their Meatball Marinara into a handheld pie, it just made sense. It’s bold, it’s familiar, and it’s exactly the kind of mash‑up we reckon people will get around.”

Senior Director of Marketing, Rodica Titeica, said the collaboration with Four’N Twenty taps into two Kiwi favourites.

“Let’s be real, tradies love pies, and they love subs, so a Subway and Four’N Twenty collab is the perfect combination of two icons in one meatball-filled, pastry-wrapped package.”

As a limited‑time offering, Subway expects the Meatball Pie to spark plenty of debate, with fans encouraged to share their thoughts on social media with @subwaynz and @fourntwenty.
The Subway Meatball Pie is only available for one day. You’d be a fool to miss out… and no one wants pie regret.
