Snacks are a summer essential – snacks at the park, snacks for the beach, snacks to take to your friend’s backyard BBQ.
If you’re playing along at home, the Summer Snack game has some rules: Very little heat (cooking) should be used in the creation of the snack, the preparation shouldn’t take longer than 60 mins, and the colder the snack the better!
Here are some Summer Snacks you probably haven’t tried but should.
Push play on Harry Styles’ 2020 hit Watermelon Sugar while you eat a slice of watermelon, topped with ricotta cheese (or feta for a punchier flavour) and strawberries.

Lime juice and green grapes. That’s it. That’s the recipe. Try putting them in the freezer for a little while to make them even more refreshing.
Poptart Ice Cream Sandwich
While Poptart’s are a U.S breakfast staple, they are far better used as a dessert. Pop two in the toaster, cram your choice of ice cream in the middle and adorn with your favourite candy. It may be a diabetic coma waiting to happen, but it makes for a tantalising treat.
With zero prep time and only ten minutes cook time, this is a quick and easy summer snack that is sure to impress your friends. Great on their own, in a salad or a crunchy topping for smashed avo on toast.
250g Cooked chickpeas
1 tbsp Olive oil
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
1 tsp Cayenne (use half 1/2 tsp to reduce heat)
1 tsp Garlic salt
Juice and zest of a Lime
Gently heat the oil in a skillet then add chickpeas and sauté on a medium heat. Stir frequently then begin to add the smoked paprika, garlic salt and cayenne pepper. Continue to sauté until golden brown and crispy.
Remove chickpeas from the pan, squeeze fresh juice from a lime, and serve with lime zest and coriander.
