Taste Of Barossa At QT Auckland

Secret South Australia phrase gives in-the-know diners a taste of Barossa.

Who wouldn’t want a bottle of beautiful Barossa Shiraz with a delicious dinner?

As part of a South Australia Tourism Commission (SATC) promotion, diners at Esther from the 3rd to the 13th of October will receive a bottle of the iconic St Hugo Barossa Shiraz when they mention the secret phrase ‘I’ll have the Barossa thanks.’

Led by renowned chef Sean Connolly, Esther restaurant has been inspired by travels chasing the food of the sun. It has brought the authentic tastes of the Mediterranean to the sun-soaked shores of Auckland.

Say the code phrase “I’ll have the Barossa thanks” when dining at Esther between 3 – 13 October and access a secret menu.

The menu includes a three-course feasting-style selection of chef’s favourites for $69 per person, including a special dessert inspired by flavours of the South Australia region and a bottle of St Hugo Shiraz to share between a minimum of two people.*

This menu pairs beautifully with wines from the Barossa region, which features over 80 cellar doors less than an hour’s drive from Adelaide.

“It’s a great way to get people talking about heading to South Australia, all while enjoying one of Barossa’s greatest exports, in the stunning ambience and dining experience of Esther,” said South Australian Tourism Commission’s Regional Manager – New Zealand, Stacey Kerr.

“From sipping a local drop that’s as old as you, to soaring over some of the oldest vines in the world, Barossa is the ultimate food and wine-lovers getaway and with Air New Zealand flying non-stop from Auckland to Adelaide four to five times a week, you can be there by lunchtime.”

The wine on offer as part of the promotion is the St Hugo Barossa Shiraz, a stunning wine of intensity, elegance, and purity that is complete and age-worthy.

The Chief Winemaker at St Hugo, Peter Munro, said the Barossa has been a wonderful place to live and make wine. The Mediterranean climate is perfectly suited for red wine production, particularly Shiraz and richly flavoured cabernet.

“With a long history and a rich winemaking culture that incorporates entertaining, socialising and eating well, it makes for a very satisfying stay, be it for a weekend or as a home,” said Munro.
