KMART IS COMING TO SYLVIA PARK

Kiwi Property announced this morning that Kmart is coming to New Zealand’s favourite shopping destination – Sylvia Park. Taking over the old Countdown space of the southern end of Sylvia Park, Kmart will boast a proud 5,000 sqm store. “Kmart is an outstanding addition to our retail line up, said Kiwi Property’s general retail manager, Linda Trainer. “They have proven time and again that they are prepared to listen to their customers and give them exciting new products and experiences, for the right price. This is exactly the type of retailer we want at Sylvia Park.” Trainer explained that as Sylvia Park continues to grow from strength to strength, it is a great reflection of what the modern Kiwi shopper wants: “Exciting brands for all budgets, great dining and entertainment, superb transport links and a bevy of pop-up stores and in-mall activations to keep the centre fresh.”

Ben Smith, Kmart’s head of property (in Australia and NZ), added they are thrilled to announce the new Sylvia Park store joining their network in 2019. “This will be our seventh store in AUckland and the first we have opened in Auckland in over ten years.” Continuing their expansion into New Zealand, the new financial year includes the opening of four new locations across New Zealand – and a fifth new store still to be announced.

Sylvia Park’s Galleria project is sitting at $233 million which is currently underway and due to be completed mid-2020. “We are thrilled to be adding yet another major brand to Sylvia Park. Kmart will complement the 60 new specialty retailers and flagship department store being delivered as part of the Galleria project,” said Trainer.
