If you’re anything like us, you might be struggling a little with #JunkFreeJune too (especially around 3pm, when the Tim Tams are beckoning). Never fear – we’ve ranked our top ten healthy snacks which are getting us through the month…
- Cottage Cheese with Fruit. Cottage cheese is great for calcium, and can be helpful in promoting weight loss – top it off with fresh, frozen or canned fruit to curb those sugar cravings!
- Celery Sticks with Peanut Butter. This one might be a throwback to your childhood lunchbox, but it’s pretty satisfying (especially with Fix & Fogg peanut butter).
- Pistachio Nuts. These babies are packed with lots of fibre, monounsaturated fat (that’s the good kind), protein, and Vitamin B.
- Hard Boiled Eggs. A Famous Five diet staple, the humble hard boiled egg packs heaps of amino acids and is great for keeping up muscular strength. Boil them in advance for between meal snacking.
- Yoghurt. There are so many options – Greek, Icelandic, pro-biotic…take your pick, but watch out for the refined carbohydrates, a fresh unsweetened version is healthiest!
- Chickpea Salad. Throw together chickpeas, lentils, black beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, corn and coriander for an easy salad which will fill you up between meals.
- Toast with Tomato & Tuna. For those moments when the hanger is getting too strong, two pieces of toast topped with canned tuna and a slice of tomato is the perfect satisfying snack.
- Hummus with Pita Crisps. A great alternative for when the potato crisp cravings are setting in, unsalted pita crisps paired with hummus are a great healthy option.
- Oats with Berries. It might seem like something your grandmother would snack on, but oats with milk are rich in fibre and calcium, and very filling.
- Trail Mix. The mixed nuts fill you up and the dried fruit hits your sweet tooth – it’s two birds with one stone.
